Fortis Properties Corporation was established in 1989 with the purchase of its first commercial real estate holding in St. John’s, Newfoundland – the Fortis Building.  Since that time the Company has grown significantly. 

Fortis Properties is a diversified company with operations in hotels, commercial real estate and non-regulated hydroelectric generation throughout Canada.  The Company owns and operates 22 hotels in eight Canadian provinces; 2.7 million square feet of commercial real estate primarily in Atlantic Canada; and six hydroelectric generation plants in Ontario.  Fortis Properties employs over 2,400 people.
