The Holiday Inn St. John’s hotel has won the Bass Hotels & Resorts 1999 Quality Excellence Award, given only to hotels achieving distinction in all aspects of their operations.
The Holiday Inn St. John’s is one of 139 properties selected from the company’s more than 2,700 hotels in recognition of overall quality excellence. In order to receive the award, the hotel had to receive a high score in the Guest Satisfaction Tracking System, a system designed for guests to evaluate Holiday Inn hotels and their performance, including product quality and customer service.
The hotel was honored during a special ceremony at the Annual Bass Hotels and Resorts Global Investors Conference in Las Vegas, NV. Norman Van De Speigle, Rooms Division Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the Holiday Inn.

The Holiday Inn St. John’s is one of 6 Atlantic Canadian hotels owned and operated by Fortis Hospitality. The Holiday Inn St. John’s, currently the top rated Holiday Inn in Eastern Canada, is a full service hotel with approximately 120 employees. The hotel is undergoing a $5 million dollar expansion including 64 studio suites and an additional 2,000 square feet of banquet space scheduled to open in May 2000.
