Expansion of Holiday Inn Sarnia/Point Edward begins today
(SARNIA, ONTARIO) April 8th, 2005 – Fortis Properties Corporation celebrated the commencement of its $7M expansion of the Holiday Inn Sarnia/Point Edward today with a ground-breaking ceremony.
This investment by Fortis Properties Corporation demonstrates a further commitment to growth in the hospitality division, and to the communities of Point Edward and Sarnia. “We are very pleased with the Holiday Inn Sarnia/Point Edward and its successes to date,” said Earl Ludlow, incoming President and Chief Executive Officer of Fortis Properties Corporation. “Already the market leader and largest hotel in the Sarnia and Lambton County region, the hotel’s expansion will open even more doors for larger conventions and traffic through the area.”
Doug Loucks, General Manager of the Holiday Inn Sarnia/Point Edward was also on hand for the ground-breaking ceremony. “This expansion is exciting news for the staff here at the hotel and the people of the Village of Point Edward and Sarnia,” said Mr. Loucks. “Having joined the Fortis Properties team just 18 months ago, we are thrilled at this sign of the company’s confidence in us to meet growing regional demand with this expansion.”
Also on hand at the ground-breaking ceremony were Point Edward Mayor Dick Kirkland, Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley, and Lambton County Warden Pat Davidson.
